A SOLEMN WARNING AGAINST APOSTASY

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.  But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.  ~ Hebrews 10:38 – 39

John Trapp said, “It were far easier to write a book of apostates in this age, than a book of martyrs.”

With the growing carnality in the church, whether it wears the face of “Christian liberty” or hypocritical self – righteousness, more “professing” believers are revealing their true nature of self – love and self – indulgence. Their private life testifies to an absence of the reality of saving power as they bear more evidence of the fruit of an apostate condition, including affirming with pleasure sodomite relationships.

Apostasy is defined as a falling away from the faith; abandoning the truth; a departure from the faith of Christ. An apostate may traffic the church house frequently, but still be under the sentence of divine judgment. Their profession of faith is a religious front. They know only a packaged, but not planted, Christianity. Therefore, while they have a form of godliness before others, there is an absence of private devotion to Christ. Their lives are void of secret prayer, obedience, submission, humility and repentance. Tragically, without a radical departure from their life of hypocrisy and an embrace of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, they will perish.

Charles Spurgeon warned,

THE MAKING OF A DEVIL WAS AN ANGEL.
THE MAKING OF A SON OF PERDITION WAS AN APOSTLE.
THE MAKING OF AN APOSTATE IS A PROFESSING CHRISTIAN!
